General Notes:
The date of death for Nicolaus Bohn, records supplied by Donald Bohn, Sr. shows January 23, 1900 ( which came from Catholic archives in Germany) yet the date of death from information supplied by Daniel Bohn is January 25, 1900. Not sure which date is correct.
Nicholas immigrated to the U.S.A. Three brothers of Nicholas also immigrated to U.S.A., George "Nicholas" Bohn was chef and his brother, John Adam Bohn was the assistant chef on the freighter when they immigrated in 1846.
Nicholas immigrated to New Orleans about 1846 and it was there that he learned his trade of shoe making.
He went to Pass Christian, Mississippi to embark in business for himself. He started the business of shoe, boots, hats, clothing, etc. in the year 1860. Like many merchants of the South, at the colse of the Civil War he found that he would have to start life all over again. He started to mend up his shattered business and be good management, energy and steadfastness of purpose, he gradually worked up from his former position to a position of affuence, and has gained a lasting spot of regard and admiration in the opinion of his fellow town people.
Buried in Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian, MS. On his marker, the inscription says, "Those who loved him best, Loved him most."

Nicholas married Barbara Schaad, daughter of Johann Conrad Schaad and Anne Baumann, in 1855. (Barbara Schaad was born on 6 Jan 1837 in Ober Hallau (Schaffhanson), Switzerland, died on 30 Dec 1888 in Pass Christian, Mississippi and was buried in Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian, MS..)
